Jay-Z and his $40,000 Rolex-laden Party Invites Have Us Seeing Red

In the past, to invite guests to an event, you uncorked your ink-well and calligraphed an elaborate invite that informed potential guests about the elegant soirée. Over the years Facebook Event notifications and Evites with lasers shooting through them, have taken over.

But the art of the invite isn’t lost on Jay-Z, who hosted his Shawn Carter Foundation Gala and VIP invitation packages contained a bottle of Ace of Spades champagne and a rose-gold premium Rolex Cosmograph Daytona that came with a chocolate dial. But you know what’s cooler than some boring story about finding the perfect watch? Getting the baby inviting you to Jay-Z’s party! So which other watches, apart from Jay-Z’s are making news now? Let’s find out…

Jay-Z’s Rolex Cosmograph Daytona

Jay-Z invitees would have welcomed an invite with a lesser watch. If Jay-Z even sent us a Swatch, we would insist that we are buried with it! But Jay spared no expense, sending extremely desirable Rolex Daytonas costing $40,000 per watch. He is on a level of his own with this invite game, admirers wrote over social media when a picture of the watch appeared on Instagram. So now, Evites must shut down its business.

Romeo Beckham’s Richard Mille RM-005

Teenaged children will inevitably run in the opposite direction of whatever their fathers think is cool. David Beckham, a Tudor man, favors simple, classic pieces of the Rolex brand. Beckham Junior has a  taste for sleek, modern, and futuristic watches such as Richard Mille RM-005, a black and silver watch priced in 2004, at $57,000. This is actually among Richard Mille’s cheapest watches and is a starter piece for the super-rich brats.

Elton John’s Rolex Day Date

Let’s remember a legend, not Sir Elton, but the Rolex Day Date, a silver watch with a light blue face. It’s the first timepiece with the full date displayed on it, and the one preferred by Presidents like Lyndon B. Johnson, Dwight D. Eisenhower and even Elton John whose watch comes with a uber-cool looking icy blue dial.

Anthony Davis’s Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Tourbillon

This watch is not found on the brand Audemars Piguet’s official website but adorns Anthony Davis’s wrist in Los Angeles. The extra-slim standard Royal Oak is a gold watch with a black face and is very much in-demand, with a yearly production not exceeding 30 per year. Davis’s watch is factory-set with rubies and is equipped with the superfluous-but-pretty tourbillon mechanism. It certainly is not easily available!

Russell Westbrook’s Richard Mille RM-011”Felipe Massa” 10th-Anniversary edition

Russell Westbrook was led into the famed Rockets’ Toyota Centre and got the whole red carpet treatment. And the man has some extraordinary watches. Westbrook recently sported a Richard Mille RM-011 which was originally made to honor the Brazilian racer Felipe Massa. This special-edition release is a black watch, with a colorful yellow and blue dial to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Massa and Richard Mille working together.

Kristen Stewart’s Casio LA11WB-1

Some see spending more than $20 on a watch as foolish. A good example is Tyler the Creator and his $11 Casio MQ24-9B. While going on press tour for the modern reboot of Charlie’s Angels, Kristen Stewart wore some very casual staples: Nike Cortez sneakers, jeans, and a very chill Casio LA11WB-1 which is a black watch in an unusual octagonal shape, costing just $20. It lacks any bezel set with diamonds and jewels and instead, has a basic blue plastic tube that runs around the watch face.
