The Four Most Expensive Homes in the World aren’t Where We Expected Them to Be
Big fat bank balances enable businessmen and entrepreneurs to enjoy a flawless and luxurious lifestyle, buying whatever they want. Apart from buying real estate for investment purposes, they are able to live life king-size, buying palatial mansions with awesome features and eye-popping amenities. Not only are those houses huge, they are extremely luxurious to the hilt, and showcase opulence and the kind of money their owners love to flaunt. Are you aware of the houses which are being talked about? Here is the comprehensive list to guide you through some of the largest, opulent, costliest, and most luxurious homes in the entire world. However we leave out the palaces because these come with royalty and these were inherited not purchased. But there is no denying that some palaces such as the Sultan of Brunei’s palace, and the Buckingham Palace, could definitely be featured here. So without further ado, here are the four most expensive houses in the world!
ANTILIA, INDIA — $2 BILLION
Antilia is the home of Mukesh Ambani, one of the richest businessmen across the globe, owning Reliance Industries. Instead of the usual lavish mansion, Ambani chose to build his own 27 floor skyscraper Antilia, and call it home. Built by multiple architecture firms such as Perkins + Will and Hirsch Bedner Associates, the incredibly luxurious abode towers over other skyscrapers in downtown Mumbai and cost approximately $2 billion to build. The humongous 400,000-square-foot abode has a great top floor view of the Arabian Sea. Every floor has a different structure, built with different materials which are Vaastu–compliant (the Feng Shui Indian equivalent). That explains all the luck this man has in his professional career!
VILLA LA LEOPOLDA, FRANCE — $750 MILLION
A military hospital built by American architect Ogden Codman Jr., the Villa La Leopolda in the gorgeous Côte d’Azur (French Riviera), was the setting for Hitchcock’s ‘To Catch a Thief’. Now owned by philanthropist Lily Safra, the wife of Lebanese banker, Edmond Safra, the property has a huge greenhouse, a guesthouse, a pool, and an outdoor kitchen. The stone staircase entrance was inspired by Chateau Borelli and has eight luxurious suites and eight staff bedrooms.
VILLA LES CÈDRES, FRANCE — $410 MILLION
The Villa Les Cèdres is available for sale, and with $410 million in your bank account, you could afford this elegant property. This luxurious 1830 abode mixes beauty, history, and class and 300-year-old olive trees proudly surround the property which was owned by King Leopold II of Belgium. The 18,000 square feet home has 14 bedrooms, set on 35 acres of land with an Olympic-sized pool and Amazonian lily pads in the pond. Italian distiller Davide Campari-Milano SpA currently owns the property.
TOUR ODEON PENTHOUSE, MONACO — $387 MILLION
Monaco invokes the sun, sand, and luxury and the fifth costliest house in the world, The Tour Odeon Penthouse is located there. The penthouse has five floors, a massive outdoor terrace with an infinity pool and a waterslide starting from the second floor. From the top, the floor-to-ceiling glass windows provide a sweeping view of Monaco. The house has a private chef and a chauffeur. Buying superbly luxurious houses is not enough as you need to have funds for its upkeep, insurance, and taxes. Forget about buying any of the houses listed here, has anyone seen any of these close up?
